A new exhibition of the crown jewels will be unveiled later this month to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee.
The crown jewels have always provided a spectacle, attracting an audience of around 2.5 million people each year.
This exhibition will feature newly restored film footage of the Queen’s coronation and will present the jewels in improved lighting. The display consists of a large variety of crowns, sceptres, orbs, swords, and rings and will be displayed in the order that they were used in the coronation ceremony.
The exhibition will take the coronation ceremony as its central theme, and will examine how the regalia is used during the ceremony, exploring the symbolism of each object.
